Excel · Mac development build
Copy normally with ⌘C.
The latest Shelf-ish Mac development build keeps the workbook, sheet and copied range with eligible Excel clips. It reads source metadata already included in Excel’s clipboard copy, locally and inside App Sandbox.
Turn it on
- Run the updated Shelf-ish Mac build.
- Enable automatic clipboard capture, then enable Excel in Settings → Connectors.
- Copy a range from a saved local workbook with ⌘C.
- Open the saved clip to see its source context.
No Excel add-in, taskpane connection or relay is needed. If you installed the earlier Excel preview, close its taskpane; that explicit-copy prototype has been superseded.
What is included?
The workbook location, sheet, range and the copied cell values. Neighbouring cells and the workbook file itself are not read. Your clipboard is not rewritten.
Supported copies are continuous ranges of up to 1,000 cells with bounded text and matching source metadata. Unsupported copies—including unsaved workbooks or inconsistent metadata—remain clips without Excel context.
The Mac app’s existing clip storage and iCloud sync settings still apply. Word and PowerPoint taskpanes remain separate development prototypes.
